Stardew Valleyversion 1.1 recently entered beta and includes some new features that open up new possibilities for marriage. Oh, and it also adds a way to end that marriage and send the person you loved into a spiral of grief.

That's right, divorce is now available in Stardew Valley and Reddit usersHarvestabletested the new feature "for science". To end your marriage, go to the mayor's house and choose one of his books. It costs 50,000 grams to divorce your partner, but you have until the end of the day to withdraw if you change your mind. If you don't, your partner will be blind and moving when you wake up. If you divorce your partner, you get full custody of all the children, you become a single parent and you lose all relationship points with your ex. And when you talk to your partner, they don't feel good about the whole situation. In fact, it's heartbreaking. You can see Alex's response in the gallery above.

There are still some bugs around the separation function. If your spouse still lives in your home after the divorce, don't worry: it's just a mistake. Your partner's room and outdoor space will also be gone if you separate from them, but any furniture you place in their room will be stuck in a black void. This bug has been fixed, but has not yet been added to the beta.

To access the version 1.1 beta, simply right-click on Stardew Valley in your Steam library and go to Properties. Then click on the Betas tab and select 'beta' from the drop-down menu. Once you've done this, an update should be downloaded giving you access to all the new features. Developer ConcernedApe says the beta is unlikely to damage your save files, but it is recommended to back them up anyway.
