If you are having trouble with the Wi-Fi connection or see a Wi-Fi icon with an exclamation mark, try the solutions below. After each solution, try opening a web page on your phone to see if the problem is resolved.

Step 1: Check the settings and restart
- Make sure WiFi is turned on. Then power off and on again to reconnect.Learn how to connect to Wi-Fi networks.
- Make sure airplane mode is turned off. Then power on and off to reconnect.Learn how to turn airplane mode on and off.

Press the power button on the phone for a few seconds. Then tap Restart on your screen.
Trin 2: Find problem types
- Telephone:Try connecting to the Wi-Fi network with another device, e.g. a laptop or a friend's phone. If other devices can use the network, the problem is probably with your phone.
- Network:Check if your phone can connect to another Wi-Fi network, e.g. at a friend's house or on a public network. If your phone can connect elsewhere, the problem is most likely with the network.
- Internet:If your phone connects to the Wi-Fi network but you still have no internet then the problem is most likely with your internet connection.
Step 3: Troubleshoot by problem type

Remove a Wi-Fi network from your phone
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- PressNetwork and internet The Internet.
- Enable if necessaryWireless Internet.
- Press the bottomSaved networks.
- From the list, tap the saved network you want to delete.
- PressForget.
Add the Wi-Fi network again
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- PressNetwork and internet The Internet.
- Tap at the end of the listAdd network.
- Enter the network name (SSID) and other security information if necessary.
- PressSavings. Enter a password if necessary.
The problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. To find out, restart your phone in safe mode.
- Enable safe mode.Learn how to enable safe mode.
- Try to connect to the Wi-Fi network again.
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- PressNetwork and internet The Internet the network name.
- Check if the Wi-Fi connection works in safe mode.
- If the Wi-Fi connection works in secure mode,a downloaded app is most likely causing the problem.
- Restart your phone to exit safe mode.
- Uninstall recently downloaded apps one by one. Check if the connection works.
- Once you uninstall the app that is causing the problem, reinstall the other apps.
- If the Wi-Fi connection does not work in safe mode
There is probably a problem with the Wi-Fi network or internet connection.
- If the Wi-Fi connection works in secure mode,a downloaded app is most likely causing the problem.
Tip:Airplane mode is automatically enabled when you enter safe mode. We recommend that you disable airplane mode to continue using features such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and calling.
Internet and networks
If the Wi-Fi router and modem are yours, turn them off and then on again.
- Unplug the power cords from the router and modem for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cables.
- Check that all wires and cables are securely attached at both ends.
- Wait a few minutes for the modem and router lights to work properly. (See the device manual or manufacturer's support website.)
If the lights do not work properly, there may be a problem with the modem, router, or Internet connection.
Contact the network administrator or your Internet service provider. For example, there may be a service outage or they may need to reset your connection.
Important:Public networks, such as cafes or airports, often have a web page that you can complete. If you sign in or accept the terms, the public connection should work.
If you don't see an authentication page after connecting to a public network:
- Look for a message asking you to log in.
- Open a new page in a new window.
If these steps don't work, try restarting your network connection:
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- PressNetwork and internet The Internet.
- Tap and hold the network name. PressForget.
- ShouldWireless Internetturned off and then on again.
- Tap the network name in the list.
- You will receive a notification to log in. Tap the notification.
- To connect to the network, you must accept the terms and conditions.
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- PressSystem Reset options Reset Wi-Fi, Cellular and Bluetooth.
- Press the bottomReset the settings.
Wifi hotspot
Make sure the hotspot is turned on
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- PressNetwork and internet Hotspot and tethering.
- PressWifi hotspot.
- To turn onUseWifi hotspot.
- If it was already enabled, disable it and enable it again.
- If your phone hasn't had a hotspot before, tap firstSet up Wi-Fi hotspot.

Important:Not all mobile providers work with mobile hotspots.
If you experience any problems, please contact your carrier. Ask if your phone can connect to mobile hotspots and if they are included in your data plan.
Wi-Fi is disabled when the hotspot is enabled
Some devices, like the Pixel 7a, don't support hotspot and WiFi at the same time. When the hotspot is turned on, the Wi-Fi will be turned off automatically.
Hotspot is automatically turned off
When no devices are connected to the hotspot for 10 minutes, the hotspot will automatically turn off.
Devices that don't support hotspot and Wi-Fi at the same time will also automatically turn Wi-Fi back on and attempt to connect to the last known network.
When you reconnect
When you reconnect, check for the latest system update. Updates may bring improvements that help resolve issues.Learn how to check and update your Android version.
