Driving JojaMart out of Stardew Valley may save the community center, but grocer Pierre could still follow in Joja's footsteps.
Joja could be the bad guyStardew Valley, but it may only be a few years before Pierre will follow in their footsteps. Although Pierre stubbornly opposes Joja during the events ofStardew Valley, he has more in common with the company than he might like to admit. While players have plenty of reasons to oppose Joja, Pierre's own track record of less than perfect behavior becomes apparent as the game progresses. Sometimes you might get the idea that ifStardew Valleyset about ten years in the future, Pierre could have been the villain.
There's no denying that Joja is the bad guyThe genre-defining experience of Stardew Valley. So much is explained from the start, when the player character begins the game in a miserable job at Joja's that they quit in favor of a life on Grandpa's farm. Joja's influence on Pelican Town is clearly negative for the small town. Joja is primarily profit-oriented, with JojaMart's newest branch threatening local business, especially Pierre's store. If JojaMart succeeds in turning Pelican Town into a business town, the community center will be destroyed and Junimos will disappear, symbolizing Joja's corrupting influence.

Pierre's ambitions in Stardew Valley could make him his own worst enemy
Although the player is nominally on Pierre's side, whencompletion of the Stardew Valley Community Center, he doesn't do much to gain sympathy for himself. When the player sells him high quality produce, he will claim that he grew it himself, while shifting the blame for lower quality goods back to the farmer. Furthermore, he runs a shop at every city festival instead of spending time with his family and neighbors, making it seem like he values money over being a member of society.
Overall, Pierre seems interested in little other than profit, although Joja's greater negative impact means he's still clearly the greater evil between the two. Even taking that into account, this is the biggest attack against itPierre's karakter in Stardew Valleycomes in the form of Pierre's Prime Produce mission.
This mission requires the player to grow 25 gold quality vegetables and give them to Pierre. Once Pierre gets the vegetables, he will try to sell them at an outrageous price, earning scorn from Gus and Caroline. The player himself even gets a chance to comment on his greed in this scene. Pierre's behavior during this quest paints a poor picture of him, showing that he is willing to use unethical business practices against his own neighbors to get some extra money.
Even if Pierre's greed is not enough to push a player towards himStardew Valleys Joja Warehouse-rute, this could prove worrying for the future. Pierre openly admits that he wants to open many stores and become extremely rich. Combined with his existing greedy tendencies, his ambitions could see him build another Joja-like threat. After all, he is already willing to deceive and lie to his customers if he knows them personally and has limited resources.
With greater reach and cash flow, Pierre's negative traits could be amplified and turn him into the same kind of corrupt corporate entity he had to fend off in Pelican Town. It feels like Pierre's biggest problem with Joja is that they were competition, not an ethical complaint.
MenThe morals of Stardew Valley are quite gray, Pierre easily comes off as one of the most questionable members of society. Since Joja is no longer a factor in Pelican Town after the end of the community center, Pierre will largely control the town's grocery market. Luckily, he was talked out of his plan in Pierre's Prime Produce, but that doesn't mean he won't try again later with a different plan. A bit laterStardew ValleyIn the timeline of the timeline, Pierre would eventually become indistinguishable from JojaMart.
