Use console commands

Before you can tour the map and give all your friends free diamonds, you'll need to make sure you're playing on a server that allows console commands. If you are the one creating the server, you can easily enable this option during installation. If you are playing on another server, try opening the command console menu. This varies by platform, but can be done on PC using the "/" key.

With the command console open, simply enter your cheat code and the game will take care of the rest.

Best console commands inMinecraft

Of course, opening the command console won't get you anywhere - you'll also need to know a few codes to get into the dialog box. Luckily, some versions of Minecraft give you a few suggestions when you start typing in the command console, but we've rounded up some of the best cheats for you:

  • Teleport a player to a specific location
  • /tp [player]
  • Give a player free experience points
  • /add experience
  • Change the difficulty of your game (Peacefully, Easy, Normal or Hard)
  • /difficulty
  • Changed again
  • /weather[duration]
  • Give a player for freeobjects
  • /to give [quantity]
  • Create a crowd at the chosen location
  • /to call to action[x y z]

There are dozens of other cheats to discover in Minecraft, but these six should give you a fun way to start experimenting with the console's command system. Remember: codes may vary slightly from platform to platform and you can only use them on servers with cheats enabled.

Admin server commands

Now that you've created your own Minecraft server, it's time to add your own unique flair to it by implementing Minecraft server commands. That said, here's a guide to using Minecraft server commands, as well as a full list of all the commands you can use in Minecraft.

How to use Minecraft server commands

If you've ever played onemultiple playersserver, you may be familiar with Minecraft server commands like "/warp" or "/spawn" and the like.

As an administrator you can do many things. The vanilla servers don't offer many commands, butBukkitsupports all kinds in the form of plugins.

Since this guide is based on the Vanilla server software, we will use commands that are commonly used with it.

If you are in the game when you start a command, use a forward slash "/" before typing it. This tells the customer that the text afterward will be a command and not a chat message.

However, if you use commands from the server software, the console will only accept commands without the forward slash "/", so just type it as is.
