In the March 5, 2020 episode,Graystunned viewers when it was revealed that Alex had left Seattle to reunite with his former flame, Izzie, and were happily raising their two young twin sons on a horse farm in Kansas. In a series of heartbreaking letters to his wife Jo and his closest friends, including Meredith, Alex revealed that he had reconnected with Izzie after years of no contact in the weeks leading up to the trial to reinstate Meredith's medical license.
Heigl, the her upcoming promoNetflix-drama,Firefly Beat, admitted that she has not seen the episode in question. "I haven't seen it," she told ET's Katie Krause.
After being informed of Alex and Izzie's surprise reunion, she asked, "Wasn't he with someone?" with reference to Jo.
“Listen, isn't that a crunchy move?” Heigl said.
While Heigl didn't seem 100 percent on board with Izzie's involvement in Alex's farewell, she didn't seem particularly interested in returning to the halls of Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital again, even in the middle of the crisis.Patrick DempseyInT.R. Ridder'Sgives backin the current season.
“I'm super focused on this show and my passion for it,” Heigl saidFirefly Beat. "I'll never say never, but that's not likely."
IFirefly Lane,Heigl plays the lead role oppositeSarah Chalkeas best friends Tully and Kate, whose best friendship spans three decades. Based on the novel by Kristin Hannah, the series follows the unlikely duo as their friendship begins at the age of 14. While Tully is bold and sassy, Kate is the shy girl who never notices you. But when a tragedy brings them together, they are bonded for life and become inseparable best friends. Together they experience 30 years of ups and downs: triumphs and disappointments, heartbreak and joy and a love triangle that threatens their friendship.
For Heigl and Chalke, one of the joys of being part ofFirefly Beat.
"That was one of the biggest draws for me to this project, like, 'Oh, this is going to be so fun.' And it was,” the 42-year-old actress told ET's Rachel Smith. “I spent weeks putting together my vision board of what I thought Tully's 80s vibe would be, what her hair should be, what her makeup should be, and it was just so fun and creative to diving back into that decade… all in reality.”
"That was the best. That was my favorite part. We had the best time. Katie and I in the makeup trailer were like, 'Wait, more hairspray, less hairspray, more earrings, blue shadow, more eyeliner!'" Chalke added added "I have a huge soft spot for the 80's in my heart and I have a full 80's drawer in there with costumes for my kids, many of which are from the 80's. It was one of my favorite eras - the music, the earrings, everything. The shoulder pads! It was amazing, and when you put those clothes on, partly because we were very young in the '80s, you feel it. It's a very different energy. It's like you're doing very different things body and you move a little bit differently and we were just more resilient and [more] energy."
Firefly Beatwill be released on Netflix on Wednesday, February 3.
