Stardew Valley's co-op makes multiplayer easier than ever, now that the farming simulation has online and split-screen options to play with friends. You can mix and match the way you and your friends work together on your farm with options to split resources and control how your game works with multiple farmers present. Co-op farming relies on the Cabin Farm building, which you can purchase from Robin. The host must have cabins for each friend (maximum 3) on his farm. Fortunately, each hut can be cheaply built into an existing single-player save. You can also start a new multiplayer farm with pre-built huts.

The fastest and easiest way to start a multiplayer farm is from scratch. In the 'co-op' section of the main menu you can join a friend's farm or choose to start your own.
If you want to be able to invite your friends straight away, set the number of 'starer huts' to the number of farmers who are coming along. Each partner must have a cabin to participate. You can also opt for the Four Corners farm map, which is specially designed to give as many as four farmers their own space to farm on the same land.
You can also invite a friend via a LAN connection or by sending him/her the invite code in the options menu in the multiplayer section. Your co-op partner can find options to join a LAN game or enter an invite code in the co-op section of his or her main menu. The "invite friends" option allows you to send an invite to the person you want to play with via your Steam or GOG friends list. You can also open your game to play in split screen.
How to play split screen in Stardew Valley co-op?
If you've already started a farm and have a cabin available for a friend, open your options menu and scroll down to the multiplayer section. When you click 'start local co-op' you will be prompted to press start to join the game. You can do this with a gamepad or with the escape key on your keyboard. Starting huts
These huts are pre-built on your farm, one for each cooperative farmer you wish to invite.

Margin of profit

Building motion mode
This setting can be changed while playing on your farm. It determines who on the farm can ask Robin to move buildings. You can set it to "everyone", "host only", which means farm owner, or "building owner only", meaning your friends cannot move through each other's cabins and other buildings.

Separate money means you and your friends have separate wallets – a good choice if you have a friend who won't stop buying seeds when you're trying to save for that backpack upgrade. Shared money means that all farmers share one bank account.

The pressure to perform quickly isn't a flaw in the multiplayer design, but it's a new way of thinking about play that I had to consciously adapt to.
