Your Mac's password is used for many different purposes. This not only allows you to log into your user account, but also unlock the screen when it is automatically locked. This also allows you to enable permissions for apps described in the Privacy & Security pane of System Preferences.

How to Remove Login Password on Your Mac

The login password is useful if multiple people use your Mac or if you use your MacBook in a public environment. But if you have a desktop Mac and are the only one using it, you don't really need it.

  2. Select Users & groups.
  3. Click the drop-down menu next to 'Automatic login' and select your user account.
  4. Enter your password and click OK.
