Pay and benefits for Marines

For example, the pay increase benefits you get after four years in the Marines will earn you about $2,787 per month at the E-4 rank, compared to $2,394 to $2,653 for less time in service at the same rank, according to 2022 pay tables.

In 2024, President Biden signed the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which guarantees a 5.2% military pay increase.

Additional benefits when you join the US Marine Corps

Active duty Marines, if available, can live in a house on the bottom and have access to the basic mess hall. Otherwise they are eligible for a Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) and a supplement called Basic Allowance for Support (BAS).

When you join the Marine Corps, you and your family will have access to world-class health insurance. Tricare coverage – Tricare Prime, Select and Extra – is for active duty, reservists, retired Marines and their families.

The Army automatically enrolls recruits in Tricare Prime when they show up for boot camp. They can maintain this coverage as long as they remain on active duty. This includes recruits who have enlisted as reservists until they have completed all their training schools.

Active duty Marines and their families can continue to receive free medical care through Tricare Prime.

Marine Corps Reservists are eligibleTricare Reserve Select, a low-cost, military-sponsored health insurance plan for members of the Selected Reserve.

Once activated, service members and their families can transition from Tricare Reserve Select to Tricare Select or Tricare Prime. When they leave active duty. They can also investigate civil or supplementary insurance.

Qualification for the GI Bill
