Taco Bell Obsession!

Taco Bell is my absolute favorite fast food restaurant in the world. Oh stop, don't judge me for that. It's a chain I've loved since I was 14, and the older I got, my attachment to Taco Bell only grew stronger.

My favorite item to order is the Mexican Tortilla Pizza. Aside from their Mexican pizza, my other favorite items are the Bean Burrito,7 delays burrito, InSpicy Tostada.

Considering what I eat most of the time, I can't afford to eat Taco Bell's fried version as often as I'd like, but I can replicate some of their delicious menu items at home.

What is Taco Bell Mexican pizza

Taco Bell's Mexican pizza consists of two flour tortillas that are deep fried, then layered and topped with baked beans, salsa and cheese. The pizza is then heated and topped with tomatoes, scallions and jalapenos.

At Taco Bell you can get a beef version or a vegetarian version of the pizza. Since I prefer vegetarian to meat, I naturally love the Veggie Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell.

Bold claim- My version of this vegetarian Mexican pizza tastes much better than Taco Bell's version. I know, I know, that's a bold statement, but it's true. Just take a look at the reviews below.

Taco Bell's pizza can get soggy and I find half the cheese and veggies fall off, so believe me when I say my version is better, not to mention the homemade one. I hope you will try this recipe.

Ingredients for Taco Bell Mexican Pizza

Taco Bell Mexican Pizza Ingredients...it's nothing complicated and to the point.

Tortilla's: As much as I love using whole wheat, you need one for this Taco Bell copycatWhite flour tortilla of 20 cm. The ingredients aren't great, but at least it's homemade.

Fried pinto beans: I used organic, refried canned pinto beans from Trader Joe's and they are delicious.

Taco seasoning: Any brand of taco seasoning will work, but I love Trader Joe's because it has a little spice.

Water: You will need a little water to thin the beans a bit.

White onion: For the beans you will need some chopped white onion, yes we add some flavor to the beans.

pizza toppingss: Tomatoes, Jalapeno, spring onions, Mexican cheese, salsa. You need all the ingredients for the pizza bases.

FAQ

1. How to make a crispy tortilla without frying?

You could say my version is a healthy Mexican Taco Bell pizza.

Here's how I do it:
The key is to brush a little oil on the tortilla and fry both sides. This results in a crispy exterior.
Once done, continue making the Mexican pizza in layers and bake it again.
This is a great dish to celebrate Cinco De Mayo!

2. Can I make the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza recipe in the air fryer?

Absolute! Even though I don't have a good air fryer, I would air fry these Mexican pizzas at 375° for 8 minutes. To look at. Then add more time if you need it.

3. How do you prevent Mexican pizza from becoming soggy?

Make sure your beans are not super runny. It's fine for the beans to be runny, but make sure they don't become so runny that your tortillas become soft. Also spread some salsa over the beans, but don't go overboard, so the tortillas soften.

4. Is Taco Bell Mexican Pizza gluten-free?

No, this homemade version of Taco Bell's Mexican Pizza is not gluten-free. For this recipe I used flour tortillas because they are soft.

For a gluten-free option, you can use your favorite gluten-free tortillas. Just make sure they are soft for best results.

5. How can I make vegan Mexican pizza?

Just replace regular cheese with vegan cheddar cheese and you have a vegan Mexican pizza.

6. How many calories are in Taco Bell Mexican pizza?

My homemade version of the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza version is baked (not fried) at 495 calories per serving. I used larger flour tortillas for this recipe.

7. How do I make healthy Mexican pizza?

For a healthy alternative, use whole wheat tortillas instead of white flour tortillas. You can also use low-fat cheddar cheese.

8. Has Taco Bell Discontinued Mexican Pizza?

Yes, but from May 19, 2022, Mexican pizza will be available again at Taco Bell. I still like my healthier baked version 100 times more than Taco Bell's because it doesn't get soggy and I don't skimp on the ingredients.
