Measure the lawn via an app
There are several phone apps that make it easy to measure your lawn, our favorites are Geo-Planimeter and Kress Robotics Mission.
Geo-planimeter,This app allows you to place a series of pins on your lawn to create an accurate layout of your lawn with perimeter and area measurements. You can switch between Google Maps and Apple Maps and choose the most current map.
Kress Robotik mission,This app allows you to measure your lawn by simply walking around the perimeter, the app records your GPS position as you walk, when you are done you have the option to exclude areas by walking around them, such as flower beds. Measure the lawn with a measuring tape
The way to measure your lawn is to measure the length by the width. You can use a tape measure or take a large step and count it as 1 meter. If the lawn is 5 meters long and 2 meters wide, multiply these 2 numbers. to give you the two area, 5m x 2m = 10m2. If you have a more complicated lawn, divide it into smaller sections as shown in the picture.

4.000m2 = 1 hectare, so if you have an idea of the size of your property you can deduct the percentage of the area that includes your house and driveway etc. (average hectare plot has 2000m2 – 3000m2 of lawn)
2.000m2 = 1/2 hectare, subtract the percentage of area that includes your house and driveway etc. (on average a half acre plot has 800m2 – 1400m2 of lawn)
For smaller lawns you can compare it with atennis court of 250m2,if your lawn is about the size of 2 tennis courts, you have about 500 m² etc.
