This popular drink has no health benefits. High fructose corn syrup is the other ingredient and has been linked to obesity and metabolic syndrome. The preservatives and yellow food coloring do not support cellular health.

Long answer
Minute Maid Lemonade is a popular high-calorie drink with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). This sweetener is inexpensive and has found its way into so many popular foods. HFCS is processed through corn starch, where manufacturers incorporate an enzyme that converts parts of the glucose into fructose. Fructose is sweeter than glucose and has been linked to type 2 diabetes, elevated blood lipid levels and visceral obesity. Visceral obesity is the accumulation of intra-abdominal fat associated with toxic accumulation in the body. This "poisonous soup" leads to chronic degenerative diseases. HFCS almost always comes from genetically modified corn, which is a controversial topic. Genetically modified foods have been linked to toxicity in the form of glyphosate consumption when spraying crops, which releases this poison into the plants' root stores. HFCS is also associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. HFCS is a sugar that allows our bodies to accumulate fat cells and does nothing to support our vital organs or overall cellular stability.
The other concern with this drink is the addition of yellow food coloring #5. If this drink is a real natural lemonade, then there is no need to add a toxic dye. This dye has been banned in several European countries and has been linked to significant allergic and hyperactive reactions in children. Yellow dye #5 is a synthetic chemical known as tartrazine. People who are sensitive to aspirin are more likely to experience hypersensitivity with yellow dye #5. The Food Standard Agency in Great Britain (equivalent to the FDA in the US) states that tartrazine may be responsible for adverse behavioral reactions in children. If you find a product that contains a synthetic dye, it is best to avoid it at all costs.
It has been proven that cancer cells thrive on sugar intake. It is best to avoid drinks with high carbohydrate content. In this case, the best alternative would be to add fresh lemon to your morning water and let this homemade refreshing drink cleanse your liver and aid in immune function and improved digestion. It's a better way to start your day and skip all those drinks that are packed with added sugar. Carry water with you all day and this will aid in important detoxification.
