How many games can fit in 128 GB? - Nintendo Switch Forums (2024)

Will buy 128 MicroSD along with Switch. Just want to know how many games I can fit into?

I'm only planning on buying a few AAAs, the rest is mostly racing, RPGs, indie and retro.

fortnite is about 2gb

Zelda Botw is about 13

Mario about 6 GB

Splatoon 2 about 3GB

so it probably won't be that easy to fill your SD

There are some indie games with a size of less than 1 GB.

Depending on what you buy, up to 128+ games. But since you want AAA titles, at least 20-25.

Depends on the size of the games, which are small compared to some on other consoles. Let's say Fortnite, for example, is about 40+ GB on XBO and PS4, but luckily the small one on Switch is about 12 GB. I filled my 128GB card with indies/AAA games with about 40+ games.

I have a 128GB and it has quite a few games on it.

@ZedSwitchSpend the money and get a 400GB microSD card now, it costs $102.98 on Amazon.

I doubt I can as I am from Malaysia and may not be able to afford shipping.

I don't recommend going all digital on Switch at this time. Unless you're okay with deleting games when you're done with them. Even with the 128GB card, you'll probably end up running out of space if you buy AAA games. For example, NBA 2K19 is 31.5 GB digitally. Wolfenstein 2 has almost 22 GB. So you wouldn't run out right away, but as more games come out that require more storage space, you would eventually run out.

If you're going mostly physical like me, I think 128GB is plenty. This is what I have in mine. There's still a chance that you'll eventually run out of space as more and more games require extra space, even as physical copies, but it's not likely that you'll run out of space anytime soon, and you can of course just delete games that you have. I haven't played in a while to free up space.

I have 128 GB in my Switch and there is currently plenty of space. I only have the games I'm currently playing and the games I'm returning to, like Splatoon and Mario Kart. I have BoTW, Xenoblade 2 and am reading more about them.

But again, the amount you get depends on the size of the games you download

First-party Nintendo games are usually less than 6 GB, with some exceptions. Third party AAA games can be over 20 GB in size.

If you only plan on buying digital versions of games, 128GB will probably last you a year if you're frugal and limit yourself to buying a few major releases, but I can't imagine it will last very long .

If you mainly plan on buying physical games, with your 128GB reserved only for occasional eShop exclusive games and data updating, then it should last you a long time.

How much you can fit all depends on the games you buy.
