If you play a lot of games on your Nintendo Switch, you will notice that the console does not have enough storage capacity. You can expand the storage capacity of the switch with a memory card. But which micro SD card do you need and how many gigabytes is best for your Nintendo Switch use? We explain all that here.

Choosing a Nintendo Switch memory card
There are many different types of memory cards and they also have different storage capacities. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Why do you want a memory card?
- How many games do you want to save?
- What type of memory card do you need?
How many games do you want to save?
As we mentioned earlier, the average game takes up about 10 GB. With 32 GB on your Nintendo Switch you can store approximately 3 games. The rule of thumb is 10 GB per games, so keep that in mind when choosing a memory card. Do you already know that there are 3 great games coming out this year that you want to have? This means you need an SD card with at least 30 GB. When you insert the memory card, you can download games from the Nintendo E-shop directly to the memory card, so that the storage space on the Switch does not become full.
What type of memory card do you need?
Then there is the question of which type of memory card you should buy. There are micro SDXC and micro SDHC memory cards. Both are plug & play in the Nintendo Switch. The difference between these memory cards is their storage capacity. A micro SDHC typically has a maximum of 32 GB of storage space, while a micro SDXC offers a maximum of 2 TB of storage space. Do you want to store more than 3 games on the SD card? Choose a micro SDXC.
