Rice calculations

How much dry rice for 6 people?
If you want 6 cups of rice to feed 6 people, start with 2 cups of uncooked rice grains. If using the 1-2-3 rice method above, use 2 cups of rice + 4 cups of water for 6 cups of rice.

How much rice is a single serving?
If you want to know how much rice is for one person, this is a quick and easy calculation. There's one more question you might want to ask yourself before preparing a single portion of rice: What is served with the rice?
To make the right amount of rice for one person, make ½ to 1 full cup of cooked rice. If rice is the star and is served with some vegetables or protein, 1 cup of cooked rice is a single serving.
Think of it like chicken fried rice is your meal. If the rice is a side dish for a hearty main dish, ½ cup of cooked rice is sufficient. This would be if you like broccoli beef and want to serve it with some rice.

ingredients
- ⅓ kop white long grain rice
- ⅔ kop water
- ⅛ teaspoon salty
Instructions
Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan over high heat.
Add rice and salt. Stir to combine. Bring the water back to the boil and stir again to ensure that the rice grains do not stick together.
If the water is bubbling, you want it to be on low heat. Turn the heat down and put a lid on the pan.
Try not to refill too often, but you may need to remove the lid to check this and stir 1-2 times. You want almost no bubbles to form during cooking. Adjust the heating higher or lower if that is not what you see.
Rice should not cook too high. This causes the water to boil away too quickly and the rice becomes hard. If the heat is too low, the rice will sit in the water and not cook, leaving mushy rice with too much water and grains that are soggy compared to the rice. cooked.
When the rice is soft and cooked and the water has been absorbed, it is ready. This takes about 15 minutes. Turn off the heat when you're done.
Let the rice sit covered in the pan. Season if necessary and use a fork to fluff it up a bit.
Enjoy your single serving of rice.
Multiply this rice to get rice for 4 people or more.
