I'm planning to sell my 13" MacBook Pro in mid 2010. It has about 250 GB of storage and I've filled about 230 GB of it. How long would it take to completely erase everything?
MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

It depends on whether you have a hard drive or a solid state drive. It also depends on how securely you erase your hard drive, as some programs wipe your drive 3-7 times to ensure that none of the data can be recovered.
I estimate that 1 to 5 hours is the norm, but it can also go up to 12 hours.
Make sure you securely delete everything before selling so the buyer can't recover your saved passwords.
