When setting up an SD card on your Android device, you can choose between portable storage or internal storage.
When formatting an SD card for portable storage:
- You can store files such as photos and videos on the SD card.
- You cannot install apps on the SD card.
- You can transfer the SD card between devices.
When formatting an SD card for internal storage:
- You can load files such as photos and videos onto the SD card.
- You can install apps on the SD card.
- You cannot transfer the SD card between devices.
- The SD card can be used to supplement your device's storage space.
Configure a new SD card
Important:Formatting your SD card will permanently delete data. Back up your files before formatting the SD card.
- On your device, swipe down from the top of the screen.
