Doctors recommend hydration and correct food when fighting against COVID-19 (2024)

Birmingham, Ala. (WIAT) -MED COVID -19 Falls coming up in Alabama, isolates more and more people at home during their improvement.

Doctors in the area of Birmingham say that the best way to combat the virus is not to get it and there is no remedy for COVID-19, but they recommend moisture, good diet and that listening to the body is the key toImprovement.

"The things we prescribe, the things we do are currently some sort of our best practice," Dr.Jeremy Rogers with Grandview Medical.

Rogers says that hydration with liquids other than water can help the immune system, especially when sick.

"I am talking about things that contain carbohydrates and electrolytes, such as Gatorade, Powerade, Pedialyte. These are things that will retain the food and hydration status of other people," Rogers said.

Rogers also encourages people to eat healthy food .amy Ilscas encourages people to move a little to keep their heartbeat active, but not do too much.

"Go to the mailbox to get the mail if you have the power. Stand up and take your meals in the kitchen, not in bed," Ilscas said.

Doctors say that there are some, but not sufficient evidence that C vitamins C, D or zinc can help increase a person's immune system.

"I think the things that help our immune system most are the common things such as good food, exercise and good sleep," Dr. Michael Saag with UAB.

Dr.Saag says that some people can help with body pain and fever without a prescription medicine.

"Mucinex is really good to use. Tylenol, interspersed with aleve or ibuprofen every 3 hours, and it will help keep fever under control," Saag said.

Saag understands that some of the pain Covid-19 patients continue after his fight with the virus. He says that the fatigue of it was difficult and peace is important. But most experts agree that they are patient and a strong willpower is the key to fighting Covid -19.

"If you can maintain your fight mentally, it will be physically much easier to recover and fight," said Illescas.

Dr.Rogers says that a person must look for COVID emergency aid when he develops Covid -Pneumonia, where liquids are built in the lungs. He encourages patients to put or sleep on their stomachs for a few hours to relieve the air flow in the lungs.
