The truth is, it's time to pay less attention to how millennials save their money, and instead pay more attention to how they spend it. Doing so could reveal why millennials are the happiest generation – like ever.
Their secret?To take care of themselves. And this applies to mind, body and soul, experts say.
According toNPR," more millennials reported making personal improvement commitments than any previous generation. They spend twice as much as baby boomers on essential self-care products such as exercise regimens, diet plans, life coaching, therapy and apps to improve their personal well-being. They also tend to spend their money on experiences rather than things likeresearchhas shown that people feel more satisfied and satisfied.
Self-care isn't a new concept (nor is it difficult!), but it's super effective. After all, you can only help others if you can help yourself first, as they say. Self-care is also onesigns of emotional intelligence, or the ability to tap into and manage emotions by thinking, solving problems, and "encouraging or reassuring other people," according toPsychology today.
As a result, more millennials than ever report being happy. This is especially true for the baby boomers, who...Pew Research Centerlabeled as the 'gloomy' generation. Baby boomers tended to rate their overall quality of life much lower than non-boomers. Meanwhile, younger generations generally had a more positive outlook – most likely due to their lifestyle choices focused on individualized self-care.
So the next time someone makes you feel guilty for that fancy mani-pedi, you finally have an excuse! Remember, it's all in the namebe a little kinder to yourself.
