Another high -profile example of the potato was the magicianPenn Jillette(van pen a counter).Penn started his diet withTwo weeks with only potatoes, where he lost 18 pounds. Then he switched to a diet based on Joel FurhmansEat to liveplanthat is also based on plant and lost more than 80 pounds more.

Break food and emotional eating habits

A potato cleaning issow. If you make the most strict versions, this isPainfully boring. And that is why it may possibly change your entire relationship with food.

Many people who make a potato cleaning say that it became much easier after a few weeks because they no longer bind their feelings to food.fuel.

This is partly the reason why so many people only make a short potato diet as a transition to a long -term diet.It "reset" their taste buds and their relationship with food, then it is said that it would make it easier to make a diet.

Improved intestinal health

Potatoes are high inResistant starch, that is a prebiotic that feeds your good intestinal bacteria. So if you eat a lot of potatoes, it is probably beneficial for your intestines.BadFor intestinal health thatmeat.

The blogger onYoung health and fitnessTried the "Potato Hack" (all potatoes) for 3 days to have the health of the intestine. After only three days, he lost 1.5 pounds and then improvements in intestinal health and sleep quality.

To save money on food

If you want to save money on food, it is a safe way to eat only potatoesLower your costs.Dana from one of the videos for weight loss results above stated this as another reason why she did the potato for a month.

Rules for potato cleaning

Potatos: rules, results and what to eat - I go vegan (3)

So how can you actuallyDoingA potato cleaning?

The basic rule for potato cleaning is to eat largely or only potatoes. But the exact food allowed, the timing and expensive and other details vary.

Personally, I was fascinated by discovering that there are many versions of this diet and have been chased by independent sources.Even if their rules vary somewhat, I think this adds independent verification that this diet has some profit.

The disadvantage is that you have to choose nowWhich exact versionYou want to try!

Different versions of potato cleaning

One way to categorize the different versions of the potato is about howstrictThey limit you to potatoes alone.

  • The most strict version of the diet includeswhenPotatoes. You do not add vegetables, oil or something else and herbs are very limited.Potato heelDoor Tim Steele(More below).
  • Other versions allow more herbs, herbs and certain vegetables. When Hogarb Hannah made her 30-day potato cleaning (details below), she added vegetables and sauces with many meals.-Dets also allow some vegetables and herbs. This version can be performed for 7 days to 30 days or longer.
  • Some versions only limit you to potatoes for certain meals or days.I heard about this in an interview with Chris Kresser (video below).Or eating potatoes for breakfast and lunch, but has normal dinners.

So let's look at some of the specific potato cleaning plans and what they specify:

Potato reset

Potato resetis an e-book by Jeannine Elder whose weight loss results were depicted above (42 pounds in 13 months). She was inspired by High-Carb Hannah's 30-day potato cleaning and helped ohters to follow the same path.

The reset plan of the party makes unlimited potatoes and unlimited non-stimulating vegetables possible.

Salt -free herbs are allowed, includingPower supply.Salt can be added in small quantities if you don't eat enough without enough.Fedt-free, dairy-freeDishAlso allowed: for example Ketchup, Sriracha, Mostard and Marinara sauce.

For drinks you are limited to water, Seltzer Water and from its herbal tea.

Potato heel

Potato heelis a book by Tim Steele (view it here on Amazon). The potato died in the book by Tim Stee is very short-lived: 3-5 days.It is more a "reset" that you can do occasionally, instead of a sustainable "diet."

Tim recommends eating 2 to 5 pounds of potatoes a day. Day under your potato hack.He says that this should cause approximately.1 Pound weight loss per day together with benefits for your intestinal health.

I have not yet read the whole book myself, so I don't have all the details of spice recommendations and the like.

Spud Fit Challenge

I have treated Andrew Taylor's incredible weight loss of 110+ pounds above. This is his book that explains his approach in detail (Amazon Link).

Andrew's idea was to "finish food" because he knew he was addicted to it and was unable to practice moderation.(Years of failed diets had proven it.) Of course you can't "eat" - we have to eat to live.

Andrew's approach to the potato died, a little soy milk allowed to produce mashed potatoes, and it made small amounts of herbs possible.

Checking outthe bookofHis websiteInYouTubeFor more information about all details, he recommends.

Mini Marias

This one is notstrictA potato cleaning - but it's close enough. In short, on a "Mary's mini" diet you choose a starch (can be potatoes) and eat it with non -stars with every meal.

Here is the background: Dr.John McDougall, author ofThe starch solution, learns a low plants -based diet that is based on starch.Han's normal diet comprises a reasonable variation.June 2006 newsletter, he shared oneSimplified versionFrom the diet created by his wife Mary.

It is called "Mary's mini-mcdougall diet."Or just "Mary's mini."

You can change the vegetable component between breakfast, lunch and dinner. And you can record fruit with some meals.

  • Breakfast: potatoes and fruit.
  • Lunch: potatoes and carrots.
  • Dinner: potatoes and greener.
  • To repeat!

Just like the other potato cleaning that is mentioned here, this isdoesn'tIntended as a lifelong diet.

A few years ago I tried a version of Mary's Mini.Brown riceAnd Brussels sprouts with every meal for about a week.It made mealssow, and of course I ate less.It also taught me how emotionally addicted I am on food.

In the interview with Chris Kresser, which I recorded above, he mentioned a similar point: you can get a similar type of effect as in the potato by easily limiting yourself to a healthy meal a day, whatever it is.Just eat the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will certainly be less tempted to eat to eat.

What to eat on a potato cleaning

Potatos: rules, results and what to eat - I go vegan (10)

Here are some of the basic meals that you probably eat a lot on potato cleaning:

  • Baked potatoes
  • Cooked potatoes
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Fried fries
  • Grated baked potatoes
  • Potato pancakes
  • Potentially more - potato soup, home frieze, etc. - But it's about keeping the diet boring, so don't getAlsocreatively!

Remember that a potato cleaning requires you make these dishesWithout oil or dairy products. It is okay to use a small plant -based milk to make your mashed potatoes, but avoid high calorie ingredients such as oil and butter.

Also remember: some versions of potato cleaning allow more herbs, herbs, sauces or other vegetables that can be added to these dishes, but other versions of the diet do not.

Is the potato died safely?

Potato cleaning has its critics.Health lineassessed itA 1.08 on a scale of 0 to 5 - hard! Why did they judge it so badly?

  • It does not contain very healthy fat or proteins.
  • If you do not eat enough, this can lead to muscle loss.
  • It is extremely restrictive that the author believes that can lead to unhealthy eating habits, such as bings and getting back weight when you end the diet.

Even within the vegan community there are a number of great critics of the potato.Unnatural vegan madeUnpleasant VideosTo explain why she thinks the potato cleaning of high carbohydrates was unhealthy (and bad for veganism).

But proponents of potato cleaning also have their arguments.

  • Dr. John McDougallIn this videoExplain the research and the story behind eating a diet for the entire potato.
  • High-Carb HannahIn this videoAll its nutrients deliveredCronometerDuring a day with her 30-day potato cleaning.
  • Andrew TaylorReceived a blood test8 monthsIn his diet with all potato, and the results and feedback from his doctor were encouraging.

Personally I would only approach oneIn the long term, All-PotatoDiet with some caution.I would like to work with a doctor to check how it affects everything more realistically, I would probably just choose a shorter or less restrictive version of the diet to be on the safe side.

Potato groups Community groups

If you are considering trying a potato cleaning, I would recommend connecting to a society of others experienced with the diet.OfPotato Reset Facebook Group, powered by Jeannine Elder, has thousands of members and can be a good place to start with.

SpudclubIs another society where you can communicate with Andrew Taylor, who lost 110+ pounds in his entire year, only eat potatoes.
