The weather is getting warmer and so is the McDonald's menu.
The chain has quietly brought back its Spicy Chicken McNuggets, which can now be found on the menus of participating locations for a limited time.
“Fans who love McDonald's spices, you're in luck as our Spicy Chicken McNuggets are returning to the menu in select local markets,” a McDonald's USA spokesperson told TODAY.com.
To refresh your memory: Spicy Chicken McNuggets is a spicy remix of the classic McNuggets, where chicken is covered in a crispy tempura layer seasoned with a mix of cayenne pepper and chili peppers. Customers can get Spicy McNuggets as 4-piece, 6-piece, 10-piece, 20-piece or even 40-piece.
McDonald's says Spicy McNuggets will be available in, but not limited to, the following areas: San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia, New York City and more (we've also spotted them in Washington, D.C.).
The menu item that wasintroduced for the first timein 2020, as McDonald's first new McNugget product launch since the original in 1983, so popular that itquickly sold out in several places. The chain then listened to pleas on social media for the return of the spicy poultry product and brought it back in 2021, then in 2022 and then again in 2023.
Wendy's launched its own Spicy Chicken Nuggets in 2010removed them from the menu in 2017- prompting Burger King to launch its own version for a limited time - and finallybrought them back permanently in 2019.
When McDonald's launched its spicy nuggets in 2020, Wendy's couldn't pass up the opportunity to its rival.
“I must have scraped up all the BK scraps and stuck the mcprice tag on it,” says Wendy'stweetedearlier.
But news of Mickey D's return was met with excitement on social media.
