Kelly Clarkson has been open about her weight loss. And she recently detailed the lifestyle changes she's made for her long-term health.
During an episode of her talk show on January 29, she revealedshe was prediabetic.
When actorKevin James has chosen The Kelly Clarkson Show, she shared the news of her diagnosis with him. “I wasn't shocked,” Clarkson told him. "I was a little overweight... But they said, 'You have prediabetes. You're borderline.' And I thought: 'But I'm not there yet'.”
Two years after she found out, she decided to do something about it and change her lifestyle.

Clarkson credits her move to New York City with helping her become active. INan exclusive interview with People, she revealed that she has lost weight because she now takes her health seriously and walks more.
She never said if she has an exercise routine, but said, "Walking around town is part of the workout."
Clarkson chose itmove his talk show from Los Angeles to New Yorkin 2023. “I was very unhappy in L.A. and had been for several years. I needed a fresh start,” Clarkson told People. California, she said, was not good for her mental health.
Now that she's in New York, she's also embraced a few other wellness trends. “I'm really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got onecold jumpsbecause everyone was wearing me out,” the “Piece By Piece” singer added.
As far as her diet goes, Clarkson doesn't do anything extreme.

"I eat a healthy mix," she told People. “I lost weight because I listened to my doctor – not for a few years. And 90% of the time I'm really good at it because aeiwit boatis good for me anyway. I'm a Texas girl, so I love meat - sorry, vegetarians of the world!”
"But I still spill. The other day I had a frozen yogurt with my daughter and it was magical," added the Grammy winner, sharingdaughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington, 7, met ex-man Brandon Blackstock.
Clarkson has previously spoken about her past experiences with losing weight to address thyroid and autoimmune issues.
The singer and talk show host changed her diet to treat the problemsended up losing about 37 pounds, she told TODAY's Hoda Kotb in 2018.
“I know the industry likes the weight, but for me it wasn't really the weight,” Clarkson said at the time.
To lose weight, Clarkson focused on a lectin-free diet at the time, she saidAdditionally. Lectins are the proteins that bind carbohydrates. They are quite misunderstood, but some believe they are linked to obesity, irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis and autoimmune diseases.TODAY.com reported this earlier.
Clarkson read a book about lectins and cut them out of her diet, which meant cutting out legumes, beans, whole grains, dairy products and certain vegetables. “I literally read this book and I did it for the autoimmune disease I had and I had a thyroid problem and now all my levels are back up,” she said during the interview. “Literally, I haven't trained at all,” she revealed.
Throughout her years in Hollywood, the 'American Idol' star has faced many comments about her height. She saidGlamour UK in 2020that being thin doesn't always give her more confidence, adding that she landed her coaching role on "The Voice" after gaining some weight.
“I came into the No. 1 TV show at my toughest time because right after I had kids it was like they didn't care,” Clarkson said.
"Paul (Telegdy, president of NBC Entertainment) hired me at NBC because he liked my personality, he loved that I connected with people, and I'm really raw and real. It had nothing to do with my sex appeal or my aesthetic appearance It had to do with me as a person. I think it's really up to artists to have that mentality."
Clarkson and Jenna Bush Hager van TODAYtied up about weight fightswhen Jenna and her twin sister, Barbara Pierce Bush, appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" last November.
During the conversation, Clarkson showed a photo of Jenna and Barbara dressed identically as children.
“These low-waisted things were popular,” Jenna said of the dresses she and her sister wore in the photo. Clarkson interjected: “Which isn't good for curvy girls later.”
After Jenna commented that she and Barbara "were chubby" as children, Barbara agreed, "Well, there was a scene."
Clarkson then gave Jenna a high-five and joked, "I've had a lot of podiums."
