Batteries will wear out over time. Updating to iOS 16.3 will not change your battery health. If your battery status shows 81%, it will soon be time to replace the battery.

Apple recommends replacing 80% of the battery. It's not a hard and fast rule, you can probably hold off for a few more months and get to 77-78% without noticing much difference in battery performance
The point here is that there will be a battery replacement in the near future. It is important that an original Apple battery is installed. That is why we have recommended that the Apple Store or an authorized Apple service store perform the service. Other stores do not have access to genuine Apple batteries or other parts.
Replacing the battery costs approximately $70 US.

Ignore the articles. The first two links are just information if you're curious about your iPhone's battery. As Bob Timmons writes: Update to iOS 16.3 if you want the latest update with bug fixes. However, this does not change the condition of the battery.
As we both wrote, if your iPhone's battery status is at 81%, the battery will need to be replaced soon if you want to preserve battery life.

The battery must be replaced at the Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider if the phone's battery status/maximum capacity is less than 80%.
Update to iOS 16.3 for the latest bug fixes and security updates.

I hear, you only really stink for the 1%
I really don't feel like doing an update just to end up with more headaches with my phone 🤞
