2 commentsDifferent amounts of care are required depending on how often you wear a piece of jewelry.
Wear rings every day- You should clean your rings at home or professionally at least once a week. We offer free ring cleaning every day. This only takes a few minutes, depending on the condition of the ring. Remember that wearing your jewelry every day is like wearing the same outfit every day, and things will collect on your jewelry, especially the rings on your hands. Dead skin, soap, dirt, and other things can get caught in your rings and pressed against your skin, causing a rash. Be sure to keep your rings clean to avoid rashes or itching.
Wear rings for special occasions- Have your rings professionally checked and cleaned at least once a year. These pieces are typically only worn a few times a year for special events and outings. They won't experience as much wear and tear and in turn won't require as much maintenance.
The example ring below is a ring that has been worn almost every day for six months without cleaning.
How often should I rhodium my rings?
Rhodium plating is a cosmetic process done in 14K and 18K white to give it a bright white finish, like platinum. Since no gold is naturally white, the gold must be mixed with other alloys to bleach the metal. To whiten gold, the karat must be 18K or less. This is why there is no 950 white gold or 24K white gold. White gold will have a whitish yellow color and not pure white. It is standard in fine jewelry for rhodium-plated white gold pieces to give it that bright white finish. Over time, the rhodium will wear off and your white gold jewelry will need to be re-plated.
Wear rings every day- Your rings may need to be rhodium plated once every six months to once a year.
Wear rings for special occasions- Your ring may need to be rhodium plated every 2-3 years. year.
On our website we rate the necessary care of pieces on a scale of low, medium and high. The ratings are based on the design of the ring and the frequency of daily use. You canofmore about healthcareis necessary for your jewelry and how often your jewelry needs to be cleaned.

It may or may not depend on the case. The black residue under the ring is a buildup of soap, dead skin cells, and other things held against your finger under the ring. The buildup can cause a rash or itching. It is best to clean this area to avoid discomfort. However, some people can continue with their rings for a while without experiencing any skin problems. It depends on you.

Is it really that bad that my rings are starting to turn black like in the pictures shown?
