Overview
The Dawn phenomenon and the somogyi effect cause high blood sugar levels, especially in the morning before breakfast, in people who have diabetes.
These -phenomenon
The Dawn phenomenon is a normal increase in blood sugar, while the body of a person is preparing to wake up.
- In the early morning hours, hormones (growth hormone,Cortisol, and catecholamines) ensures that the liver releases large amounts of sugar in the bloodstream. For most, the body produces insulin to control the rise in blood sugar levels.
- If the body does not produce insufficient insulin, blood sugar levels can increase.
Somogyi -effkt
If blood sugar levels fall too low in the early morning hours, hormones are released (such as growth hormone, cortisol and catecholamines).Diss helps to change low blood sugar levels, but can lead to blood sugar levels higher than normal in the morning.is:
- A person who takes insulin does not eat a regular snack with bedtime and the person's blood sugar level drops at night.
- The person's body responds to the low blood sugar by releasing hormones that increase blood sugar levels.
How can you see the difference?
The somogyi effect can occur whenever you or your child have extra insulin in the body.14 to 15 and on your normal awake for several nights.
- If the blood sugar level is low at.02 am to 15:00, you must suspect the somogyi effect.
- If the blood sugar level is normal or high at.02 am to 15:00, it is probably the Dawn phenomenon.
